As you have probably heard, Candy Claws is making the trip to SXSW with a group from Fort Collins to play the SpokesBuzz stage on March 19th. Candy Claws is also playing the Six Stages Over Texas Showcase on the 20th and the Transparent / Two Syllable Records Showcase on the 19th.

There are several upcoming releases in the Forest.

Emily Fehler has recorded a new full-length that should be available in November 2009.

Paean has a full-length, "Songs For Us To Sing," due out early 2010.

Ambassador Engine has a full-length, "A Collection of Songs That Found Their Way to You (This Is The Map)" due out by early 2010.

That Silver Shell will be releasing their first release, "Citizen EP," in the Forest this Winter.

We will be releasing the Christmas Forest: Vol. 3 earlier this year. Lookout for a release date in Fort Collins the first week of December as well as a date in Denver.

It is July already and we have been laying back it seems.

Some things that have been happening that we are excited about:

Candy Claws released "In the Dream of the Sea Life" LP this spring. They also released Glacier Prey, full of videos, unreleased songs, covers, art, and more.
Common Anomaly just released "These Drowning Days" LP last month.
Feeling Beastly released their first EP "Pandamonium" last month.
Our friend Robby (from (bear) the ghost) recently joined the Cincinatti band Enlou.
Stella Luce just released "Zugenruhe" LP and toured the United Kingdom.

Some things coming up that we are excited about:

We are just finishing up the first Paean LP, yet to be titled.
Emily Fehler has some new songs she will be recording.
Stella Luce will be doing a US tour this Fall.
Peppermill Records will be having their second Music/Outdoors Festival in Vancouver this August.
We will be releasing the Act So Big Forest compilation "Welcome to the Forest". The compilation will feature Foresters as well as Automobile, Swift, Eric Schuman, Common Anomaly, and more.

Tomorrow will be the last day of tracking for Emily Fehler's EP. There's a tentative release date for the 23rd of August. Keep an eye open for more information soon.

The Black Apples project is in post-production and will be released at Hodi's Halfnote on August 22nd with the Jimi Austin, Paean, and That Silver Shell.

Look out for the Riflemen and Feeling Beastly this Fall. Also catch Paean as they have added a few members.

For the last week, we've been doing some construction at the studio. We managed to squeeze a bit of practicing, writing, and motorbiking in with installing a window in the control room and building a desk / rackmount unit.

The "Emily Fehler Week Band" (concept name) is laying tracks with a full band next week. Some organ, bass, lap steel, 12-string, who knows what else. Emily's EP is coming out by summer.

Check out Josh Dillard. He's got some shows coming up, and even another CD later this year.

Also, look into FocoMA. They are really neat.

Emily Fehler is going in the studio next week with a band to record her upcoming EP that will be released in the ASBF.

Great Room Victorian is back at it in the studio. After recording their next EP, they will be playing shows again.

Paean and Sour Boy, Bitter Girl are putting out a split next month.

Winderous Igloos will be recording an EP this spring.

Automobile, Swift is getting a full length out on FTU this year. There may be an EP or a series of EPs released that A,S will be a part of.

Candy Claws and Ocean Bump! [we play with drums] will both have release later this year.

Other news:
the Summer tour is being canceled in order to afford a new sound card and some cables and things in the studio. Candy Claws and Winderous Igloos are planning on attending the Peppermill Festival in August still.

Peppermill Festival

So the idea is to host a sort of beta version of an extreme music festival, sometime in August '08, near Whistler, British Columbia, at the location you see above.

To attend, you'd have to hike approx 14km and 1200m in elevation, to a glacial lake with a spectacular view. This obviously isn't for the faint of heart... while the hike is quite doable for the outdoor enthusiast, it's no walk in the park. While we'd feed you and ply you with beverages at the top, you'd still need to at least pack a tent and some bare essentials.

The festival will take place over two days, and will be more of a party with musicians than a proper festival. It'll also be all-acoustic since we'll be limited to whatever exotic instruments we can carry up with us. Then, if things work out, we'd possibly have a larger festival in '09, with even more fantastic music.

Bill Disney is a "Pass the Baton" stylized project, however at least one member must stay the same from piece to piece. There will be no main contributors, and the theme should flow from one piece to the next in some way.
